Proper storage conditions are crucial for Pu-erh tea. Raw tea should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated, and dark environment to avoid moisture and odors, while ripe tea can be kept in a slightly more humid environment to aid further fermentation. It's recommended to use a specialized tea container or box, avoiding overly airtight conditions, to preserve its unique flavor.
